BOX HILL AQUALINK 2013 in VicThe redevelopment of Aqualink Box Hill by Whitehorse City Council in 2013 created an outstanding new community facility that provides a diverse range of health, fitness and leisure opportunities for its community with unprecedented environmental sustainability credentials. It is the largest and one of the most important projects in the Council’s history and is one of the most modern and innovative aquatic and leisure centres in Australia in terms of its environmentally-sustainable design features. These include cogeneration and solar water heatingand greenhouse gas reduction features include the re-use of 2 unique Australian rotary heat exchangers supplied to the 33 year old Centre in 1979 together with the installation of 3 new Australian heat wheels, which recycle 90% of waste heat from the exhaust contaminated pool hall air to provide heated fresh dry air to the Centre.

These low life cycle cost wheels are expected to provide these savings and green house gas reductions for the full life of the new Centre without replacement and with minimal maintenance and no deterioration in performance. As well as providing on-going large energy cost savings they also avoid costly equipment replacement costs.
